Facebook Launches Pages Manager iPhone App

Facebook recently released a brand new iPhone app called 'Pages Manager' that allows users to manage their business pages from the convenience of their mobile devise. Although Pages Manager is user-friendly, easy to navigate, and is of course useful for business owners constantly on-the-go, there are some limitations for what business page owners can do with this latest Facebook installment.

First, let's start with what we can do using Pages Manager. After installing the Pages Manager Application, first you need to log in and authorize the app by simply clicking on the 'Okay' button in the top right corner. Once this is complete, Pages Manager will automatically reload and direct you to your Facebook business page.

Once there, users will have several navigation options in the top header, which include the three-bar icon, people icon, globe icon, and the 'Filter' button.  First, the three-bar icon enables users to view insights, manage the admins, and also view other Facebook business pages, should you control more than one. Next, just as with your personal Facebook page, the people icon will notify you if you have new 'Likes' and also give you the option to view the most recent people who liked your page.

And similar to the people icon, the globe icon will inform users of any new notifications. So for example, if someone commented on a recent post or 'liked' a recent photo, the globe icon will both notify you with exactly what activity has most recently occurred throughout your business page and also reply to any new comments or 'likes' your page receives.

Finally, the 'Filter' button allows users to filter exactly what you want to see on your business page. Once you click on the button, you will then be prompted to decide whether you want to see everyone's posts, only certain user's posts, or any posts you previously marked as hidden. What this allows for is to let users quickly find a comment from a certain user, and then proceed to comment back to that user without having to navigate the whole page.

Other features of Pages Manager include the ability for users to write a new post and share new photos from your iPhone. However, only plain text, links, and photos can be posted for the new apps initial launch. Pages Manager still doesn't have the capability to share videos or events, but I'm sure it won't be long before these additions will be added to the mix. In addition, the app is also not yet available for the iPad.
