Perception of Realtor's Honesty Creeps Up

Real estate professionals are thought to be more honest and ethical than they've ever been before, ranking higher than the likes of business executives, lawyers, car salesmen and advertisers according to a new poll by Gallup.

The poll saw those in the real estate industry achieve their highest ever score, with 20% of respondents rating realtors 'very high to high' in terms of honesty and ethical standards.

In addition, 57% of respondents gave real estate professionals an 'average' rating in the honesty and ethics stakes, with just 22% of the public believing them to be dishonest. This represents the best score real estate professionals have ever achieved in the history of the poll, which has been conducted annually since 1976.

In all, 21 different professions were rated in the Gallup poll, which saw members of Congress achieve the lowest score in terms of integrity, with just 7% of respondents giving them a 'very high to high' rating, which is the lowest ever score for any profession yet.

As for the most honest? Predictably, medical professionals, teachers, members of the clergy and police officers all ranked highest, with all of them being ranked 'very high to high' in terms of honesty and ethics by over 50% of respondents.

Clearly, real estate professionals still have some way to go before they can say that the majority of people see them as honest, but the news that more people are coming round to the belief can only be a good thing for the industry.
